This is my fourth and final year of college at the University of California, Davis. Each year felt like taking a giant leap towards finding myself, yet, I'm approaching the finish line and it feels like I'm only halfway there. Changing to a path in design and journalism has made me feel more inspired than ever... I've never ran into so many creative and inspired minds in my life. Passion, it's something I've fallen in love with and hope to continue to surround myself with passionate people...
In 5 years I hope that I have already moved to Los Angeles and dipped my feet into the music industry. Something about this city inspires me, despite the snobby people, terrible traffic and overpriced food. There's something about being in LA, or any environment, where your inner creativity can thrive. I've found a place where I feel like I can be myself and let my passions go
I mostly want to move to LA in my near future because I hope to work for music production, PR or record label companies, where a large handful of my dream jobs are located in downtown Los Angeles or Santa Monica. With my design and writing background, I'm hoping to be the perfect up-and-coming professional with a diverse set of creative skills to help music related companies with marketing, production and all things creative.
I recently began watching a long list of "mind-expanding" documentaries related to the music industry and PressPausePlay really resonated with me because it made me feel reassured that sometimes a college education by itself is not enough to prepare you for a job in the creative world. Technology is always changing and you can strive to keep up with every new gadget that comes out, but it's more important to develop your personal craft and be able to convey the story that you're trying to tell.
I couldn't tell you where I'm hoping to be in about 10 years, I think that's mostly because I'm not entirely sure where I am going to be in 5 years. I've found, at least through college, that my life and passions seem to change rather quickly and they've somehow always lead me into something new. I'm not saying that I necessarily fall into everything I've done, but it's always been a matter of sending out e-mails and reaching out to people and companies that I'm passionate about... So, you could say that in 5 years I'm hoping to be a successful creative working for a company that I love, whether it's in the fashion or music industry. In 10 years, I'm hoping that I have traveled to different parts in the world and continue to work for different companies that I love. In an ideal world I'd like to help with marketing, production and branding with music artists... I dream of being in the music industry and having the ability to help produce live shows, making different artists' visions come to life and see different live shows.
